Local ride in Support of Afghan Heroes

I saw a copy of a leaflet at Squires last Sunday, on Sunday 14th March there is a ride from Squires at South Milford to the Armouries in Leeds for those who wanted to take part in the Wootton Bassett ride out but couldn't for whatever reason, leaves Squires 12 noon prompt.

We did the Wootton Bassett ride yesterday.

It was something that I will never forget. Hopefully we'll be able to do again next year.

I can't put into words what emotions I felt and I'm sure every other rider there did.

I started this ride from the Air Field with ' Pride ' and soon came to the first of the little villages on route to Wootton Bassett. What happened next made me cry.

People had come out from their homes and Care Homes along the way to ' THANK ' us. They waved, clapped, cheered, had signs welcoming us and then a trend of ' High Fiving' us started. I saw a small group standing in a Care Home gateway, With some of the elderly residents in wheel chairs, with covers over them to keep them warm. So that they could wave to us. That did it, I cried like a baby.

We had this all along the route. Then we got to Wootton Bassett and were greeted by hundreds of people lining the way and welcoming us. I can't tell anyone how hard I had to swollow to not start shedding tears again.

This ride to raise money was worth every single penny, every single cold minute, every single mile to say ' Thank you wootton Bassett ' and 'HONOUR' our fallen service men and women.

It was good to bring some happiness to a street that see's so much sadness pass along it.

RR.

There were a handful of ' Little People ' that tried to whip up animosity towards bikers.

Real 'Arseholes' that took great pleasure in calling us all names, making slanderous remarks about us. You name it they tried it.

Did this as though speaking on behalf of all the people of Wootton Bassett. Some of the residents came on and were really pissed off by their attacks on us.

Funny thing is, that they went very quite on the Saturday when the bikes started to turn up.

Wootton Bassett went out of their way to show us that we were ' Welcome ' there .

The start of all the name calling by about six people was because of some so called journalists from various papers.

Neil or Nigel Burden ( the Guardian )

Dave King (Swindon Advertiser )

There was also another nasty piece of work from the Swindon Advertiser as well..but as with the others he's a non important piece of crap and so I can't remember his name.

These people throwing all the insults around were invited to make their views known by standing somewhere and letting us see their demonstration..guess what!! they were no where to be seen.what a surprise.
