That looks very similar to the push cylinder on mine should imagine there will be a similar master cylinder under the false tank....

After seeing Barry's link that's the set up on mine sorry to get your hopes up but being i am a bit ignorant about vw's at the moment it looked to me like a normal beetle master cylinder :o at first sight.

I thought someone had come up with a cheaper way of doing it.

That's it for down the shed can't do anymore, waiting for paint to dry, weld up the bracket to the backrest plate just needs welding to a piece of angle iron that was conveniently placed behind the seat on the frame, think the original builder was going to fit a passenger grab bar at one stage, i'm not "if you can't see her she's fallen of attitude" not very happy with the quality of the backrest, stitching etc Chinese rubbish but hey it was cheap will do the job for now, Change later if necessary.

Busy boy this morning, welded backrest bracket on & gave it a coat of paint, cut & shut the ali handlebars, used wooden dowels as slugs for a temporary fit until the ali round billet arrives, lot better riding angle now  only had to twist them round 9mm to get the right position.Got to paint rear mud guards & recover back set over xmas then it's just check rear brakes & a complete service ready for spring  I think i may have a seized brake cylinder as the pedal is very hard & it takes a lot of foot pressure to stop  All other brakes are fine hand,& front brake good, saving grace is it came with two new rear cylinders & two new master cylinders, going to replace the lot anyway & may be new drums if needed.Hay ho & away we go.
