Hi all we are new as in not owned a trike before.
We bought this last year as a way of helping my grandson attain some experience of working on engines and learning skills like welding and metal work. It is a Preditor Pagon on the v5 but is not listed on any insurance sites. It's a self build done in about 2001, now has a Peugeot 1.5 diesel engine. Due to our not understanding what we bought we have been stitched up. V5 was wrong so having issues getting DVLA to list the current configuration, finding insurance is a big problem we only want 6 months a year we are just going to use the trike in the summer and for trips to local car/bike shows as a hobby thing. Any ideas for insurance guys would be very much appreciated.

Re: Hello
Welcome to the forum.
Not enough details to understand your problem with the DVLA.
It is not unusual to have home builds with their own names.
But, most home builds will have a registration that starts with a Q. If yours does not, that may be the issue. If it used a registrations plate off another vehicle, it is effectively a ringer.
Your only real solution will be to properly register it, which means getting it ready for a MSVA test.
As regards an insurance company, try All Styles.
If all is good, they will quote you on the basis of a description and photos.

Re: Hello
It's not a ringer lol, the v5 has been issued and lists the conversion as 2001, yet the original doner car was a 1985 mini 1275 cc. The engine was swapped out about 2 years ago and not changed on the v5 so we now have the issue of changing it because we want it road legal. Just asking advice about this and if it's happened to others

Re: Hello
Hi and welcome - changing the engine size and number is straightforward IF you have the paperwork DVLA want.
One way is to show a receipt with engine number and cc for the replacement engine. If you don't have this or can't get one then written confirmation on headed paper from a garage of the engine change with the new number/cc will do.
Changing the fuel type could be more tricky, it isn't something I've done but I think you might need a receipt for the engine?
If the trike is on a Q plate then once you've got the v5 sorted insurance won't be a problem to get.
