New member, Boom family trike

Post by Hawkeye3guns »

Hi all,
Just upgraded to a boom lowrider family trike from a GL1200 goldwing trike.
We bought her from the trike guy and it included a operators manual

Our question is where would I find a switched live from and how do you remove the dummy tank, or is there another place to pick it up.
Me and my wife are both 66 now and have dodgy right knees from a previous bike accident in 2001, hence riding a trike now. Been riding since about 9 years old when our local Bobby taught me to ride on an old bantam on dad's farm.
I'm an engineer and worked on engines both car and bike for an long time, but never on the old beetle engine.
The trike has a 1600 fuel injection engine and is a 2004 so there might a few questions until I get my head around her.🤔😀
Any help or advice is always appreciated.
Thanks Denzil.

Welcome Aboard.

There's 4 screws under the dummy tank, 2 either side.

You'll also find the brake master cylinder in the tank.

Wherever the ignition switch is - you'll usually find a switched live, there or fusebox.

Welcome to the hospital for sick trikers.
The nurse will see you to a empty padded cell as soon as we wash down the walls. She'll bring the meds later but keep away from the green pills, and don't drool out of the windows as it upsets the locals..

Thanks all for the welcome,
Getting on great with her, wife loves it.
Just a quick question. The dummy fuel tank in the future I'd like to modify it and put an angled fairing on it to put the instruments in and maybe a rear view screen so I can see then a lot more clearly.
Is there a site or dealer you can purchase a dummy tank from so I can play with it and get my idea moulded ?
Thanks Denzil
