Originally it was the normal rear engine vw set up.
The same parts we are all used to using for trikes....ect.

I am turning it mid engine and 5 speed.
Also going to IRS suspension in the rear and a ball joint front beam.

I cut an IRS torsion beam out of a pan then modified it.

Striped bare of the "horns" and everything but the suspension mounts.

The vw cars have different length torsion springs.
The swing axle are the shortest.
And the IRS are long.....that is why the tube sticks out the sides in front of the tire.....that is the extension for the longer spring.

It is common to put short swing axle springs in an IRS with modified swing plates......so they dont stick out and you can run big off road tires.

So working with that concept.....instead of using the short spring to narrow it.......I used the shortness to make a gap in the middle.

Working with the front suspension now.

Regular vw ball joint beam. I cut the grub screws loose to I can set ride height and weld back in.
Aside from all the normal rebuild parts (ball joints ect)
2-1/2 inch drop spindles.
Disc brakes.
Drilled for my Enkie wheels.
3/4 inch sway bar.

I will probably end up with rear disc also.

So....
Even though the body is rare.....around 500 made....it has no value. No one wants one. That mean I can cut it up and modify it any way I want.

The idea is to create something that makes it look like VW was heavy into the factory race scene before things became commercialized.

Then me and girlie may take it to the autocross races. I dont know what yall call them over there.
But the parking lot races where you dodge the orange cones back and forth around a timed lap. It is all low speed twisties one at a time and reasonably safe to let a teenage girlie do.

Fronts and rear disc.
Had the get them "blank" as in not machined. And then machine them to fit my metric Enkie wheels.
