You can get the ones that bolt on in place of the tow ball which look stronger I know Mick uses one

You wouldn't have a link or pic for that sort by any chance.
The older i get the earlier it seems to get late.

I think that's the one I only saw it once but it looked stronger than the first one

That looks better.
As to the first design, I can't see anything that's gonna stop it jumping off the tow ball if you happen to go over a nasty speed bump/cushion a but quick, you see with a tow hitch there's a lever you have to physically lift to disengage the retaining clip that stops said problem.

There for sale on flea bay. I was thinking of bracing it as in pic.
As a engineer I would not use this as the first bump it would twist down even with gusset plates welded there. You need support right were the centre of the wheel will be.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

THIS TYPE OF DESIGN IS NOT GOOD AS IT PUTS A LOT OF STRAIN ON THE FORK LEGS AS YOU GO ROUND CORNERS, DUE TO THE ANGLE OF THE HEAD STOCK ON BIKE /TRIKE, THE FRONT WHEEL AND FORK LEGS WILL TWIST IN THE FITTING
THE WHOLE THING NEEDS TO ROTATE ON THE TOW BALL OR A FLAT PLATE HINGE (SOMETHING LIKE A 5TH WHEEL ON AN ATTIC LORRY) TO STOP THIS
