Hi Willow, there are many VW engine trikes made. The new ones now are Boom and Rewaco and they use all makes of engines. Their were other makes to like Phoenix, B&L, Krauter (which is what I have) to name just a few. If you are looking at a VW beetle engine check the crankshaft end float by pushing and pulling the belt pulley in and out. It should be around .2mm, If 1mm or more the main crank bearings are worn. VW parts are easy to get and other parts can be made up or adapted.

!300 VW engine would be a good starter for you to get into Trikes. Should be able to push along quite nicely. Nice and reliable so long as you change the oil regularly and put electronic ignition on. Parts are plentiful and a lot cheaper than bike stuff. If you do get it and want to put a bigger engine in, I'll have a 1600 in good condition later during the summer.

That has been listed quite a few times now.
They are the same people who let us drive 75 miles to see a trike only to be told "we sold that 2 days ago. Got some lovely bikes in though if you want a look"
