Front end conversion

Post by Bellabear »

Hi all, I need help in converting the front end on a yamaha venture xvz1200 of 1985 trike, front brakes and forks are needing attention and parts are non existent so my thoughts are changing the forks etc from a more modern donor bike or do I change to link suspension. Well confused 😕

If it handles okay as it is I’d not go to the expense of having a leading link fork made, but spend some time on the internet and see what other forks were made with the same diameter fork legs and spacing, and maybe you can keep your yokes and just swap the fork legs, brakes etc.

There are various tables people have made up giving all the info about fork sizes, bearing sizes etc, that help swapping parts out.

I managed to fit a Honda 250 upside down front end onto my SR500 bike just by working out the exact bearings to use that matched both headstock and fork spindle.
