A chap I work with sent his licence off for address change and it came back with motorcycle on it. He said he'd never road a bike in his life. How many more have had the same thing :bang:

Hey guy's the very same thing happened to me had my bike licence since I was 18 years old as well as my car licence and then got my Hgv licence and thought what a collection then when I reached the age of 50 I had to renew my Hgv licence every 5 years so sent off my licence and didn't take much notice until w went to a bike shop and decided to test ride a bike, when he turned to me and asked how long I've been riding bikes and I said over 30 years he smiled at me and said I had better get onto DVLA and sort it out as my licence didn't allow me to ride bikes.so I got in touch with DVLA explained what's wrong so I spent about 20 minutes telling him what's wrong, and all he said to me was did I have my pass certificate I laught at him and said I'd moved 4 times and worked and driven all over Europe for 25 years and I wouldn't know where my shopping receipt from last week was, he then advised me that he had written it all down and would get someone to look into the matter.
Well some 6 weeks went past when I got a letter saying
We have looked into my complaint and they can't find anything their end.
So I would have to look for something that shows my bike licence and they would look again,
And chatting to a friend who is a bike cop mate of his had the same problem.so now I'm going 3 wheels and they can procreate themselves

Wouldn't that be fun if DVLA took away a bike cops entitlement!
I bet they'd soon get their arse in gear and sort that one out sharpish!

There was a story ages ago about a bike copper in mcn who had it happen he went down to Swansea on his cop bike and said explain this then he had to argue but he got it back . I would say that would only work if you were a cop or judge or something like that

it seems we are letting them get away with it
as far as i know, and this apllied when i worked,
ALLfirms have to keep records for 12 years
every one involed, send a letter stating this, and ask for data to be back checked
tell them if not found, they will be reported, and legal action taken

Yes same thing happened to me I gave up biking due to work commitments and not having time to ride never thinking I would get another bike 20 odd years further down the road only to find my bike entitlement had been removed years ago so bought a trike best thing I ever did now on trike number 6
