su carbs??
I have posted before about what sort of system i should run,and had very good information on the subject. Thank you all for that. I have decided at the moment to go for the cheaper option which would be to fit su carbs to the rover 3.9 engine. I have found some on Ebay starting at £50.00. Just wondering would these be ok?. I want the engine rebuild finished as soon as poss,so i can then work on the frame dimensions.

Don't know much about SU's off Rover engines - but those look like Stromberg's possibly to me? I'm used to a big bell shaped vacuum chamber. Nearly the easiest carbs to work on ever built IMO!

Dunno - you might have to find what type of car used the Rover 3.5 & fitted with those carbs and check the set up. Looks fairly OEM so I guess hit Google Search!

Re: su carbs??
I am running SU HIF6 carbs. and those do look like Strombergs.
The throttle linkage has the kickdown lever in place, so that is a big plus.
Looks like the auto choke is all there, though I would be tempted to remove it.
There are a few SU setups for sale, around the same price.
Most will be a 3.5 setup. I'm not sure how much the 3.9 jet differs. It is something I also need to look in to.
btw, 1st/2nd is fine anytime after 09:00 should be good, just let me know.

Re: su carbs??
As an aside, I had Strombergs on my Vauxhal Viva and they were brilliant.
