Looking to build a suzi 650 hardtail bobber type trike
Chain driven axle question
Cant afford a custom built axle and modifying a reliant is supposed to be hard work and complicated .
My question is can you use a stepped up racing go kart axle with a large sprocket and modify the wheel hubs to fit ?

I've been trying to think how to answer this, as I am not 100% sure.
But, my immediate thought is that there is no way it will be able to take the stress on it. A go-cart, whilst also able to do the speeds, is much lighter and much lower to the ground.
Just imagine the forces involved when you hit the brakes, with the weight of the trike :O

As you have found, if you use a chain driven bike you will give yourself a whole load of problems, as a shaftie will marry up to pretty much anything.

caint say I know anything about gocarts but you will be wanting a diff on the road i would assume a cart is a straight through drive . Like 1130 said chain driven isn't easy to do cheap unless you have a lathe and knowhow not what I know of

Have a look at Xs1100 bevel box's, converts chain to shaft

They come up under a 100 quid but need to keep your eye out for them

I've never seen one of those before

Will need some welding and bracket to stop the fecker from moving
