Hi all.
I'm currently rebuilding from the floor up reliant trike.
I do my own plating etc and thought I'd share a little thing I'm kinda chuffed with.
I wanted to plate the oil cap but when I took it out of the etch tank it fell to bits in my hand.
So I has a bit of brass and stuck him on the ole lathe.
I've made a much improved one that's got 2 o rings on it and a decent knurl so it's nice to remove.
Plated him up and looks dandy.

Brilliant.
What sort of plating do you do? Is it difficult?

Hi m8.
Just got some small tanks.
I can't do actual chrome as it's rather toxic.
I do anodizing, copper and hard nickel.
I just bought a book on it and learnt as I went along.
Hard nickel is as good as really but does need a polish now and then.
Chrome plating wasn't really used before kinda 1920 anyhow.
So any real old stuff will be nickel anyway.
