Mine took a lot of fast drill work to get it to prime.
At first I did not want to spin the drill too fast, but soon had it at a pretty high spin and after a few mins I got oil on the rockers.

Don't know if you have done it Sprocky but we always used to pack the oil pump with Vaseline to ensure the oil got pumped round the motor on first start up.

got the fuse box and coil fitted today before the grandoughter arived will fit fuel pup tomorrow when she has her moring nap

In theory you could just look down through the filler cap.
