I think I have found the first major use for the plasma cutter.

Doing various searches of the internet, it seem that the discs would normally have a hole in them so you can get to the bolts on the caliper adaptor plate that bolt into the diff.
This means you can remove the calipers and disk in one go.
My discs do not have holes. So, I am gonna cut some. Well, I am chucking the discs anyways.

The set I have my eye on, have the holes :)

Jinj, I still can not work out how you got to the bottom bolt, to split the calipers.

Look at the photo on page 97 on my build thread you can see the caliper on the dif thinking about it the bolts might have been on the inside just do the bottom one last so when you undo the bolts you can pull the half caliper away as you undo it so the bolt don't have to come back against the diff If you know what i mean

The bolts are defo on the inside.
There is just no room between the plate under the diff and the wishbone to get to the bottom bolt, which is on the inside.

Maybe I will get the engine hoist on the back end and lift it right up in the air. maybe that will open up enough of a gap.

This thread gave me the idea, about cutting a hole in the disc.

I had to Jack th e back end right up in the air so the swing arm was hanging down that was so I could get the disc of as it catches the swing arm mounting point even then I had to jiggle it about to get it out once you have done one side the other is a lot quicker as it takes ages to work the first one out i done my second one in about a third of the time

Got back in the garage today, and got the discs and calipers off.

There may only be two bolts holding the caliper on, but the bottom is an absolute arse to get to. Even when you manage to get to it, you can only turn it 1/6 of a turn at a time.
You need to remove the plate that covers the bottom of the diff, but even that was further complicated because the tow bar was mounted to it and the frame. I could undo the towbar mounting bolts, but it was still welded to the frame, so could not get the lip of the tray under it!!
So I had to cut part of the mounting off. I'll weld it back on once I have the tray/plate back in place.

I reckon I will get recon calipers, at £100 each. Tis pretty much double the cost of reconditioning mine myself, but it has to be worth it :)

Also gonna replace the handbrake pads, and main pads as they are covered in brake fluid.

I cleaned the bits off before I took them don the local parts place.
