Rear axle groaning

Post by Mickbc »

I bought a Yamaha sir sp1300 trike. The rear axle mix fitted with a gearbox which enables the trike to reverse in all years the gearbox whines when slowing down very loudly. I have tried many trike builders all who say it is progression Aly built but imam unable to find out by whom. Any advice would be gratefully accepted as I out ride for fear of doing more damage. I am disabled and my trike is the closest I am allowed to riding a bike these days and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! Thanks in advance mick

Hi Mick. Can you pop along to the new members section and introduce your self. It's good manners even if we don't have any.
Now this gearbox is it a gold colour with a lever off to one side. Any chance you can post a picture.
Plus where abouts are you as we are all over the country.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Barry the cantankerous old goat. :poke:

Try sticking some molyslip for axles into it. Excellent lubricant additive to quieten noisy bits
