When I first looked at the leak last year there was some filler in that area. It was very hard to see the oil leak as the fan cowls were all fitted and hard to see. Well I will try again with Devcon putty and if it still leaks I'll buy a oil well.
as i said i fixed a slotty hole in a 2 stroke crankcase with it, i also rebuilt a badly worn clutch pushrod tunnel on a Honda XL250 and it worked a treat.
In fact the metro bridge over the river Tyne was put together using Devcon.
Well today I mixed up some of the devcon and applied it to the area. Not sure if it will go off as it's a bit cold under my lean to work area.
Will leave it a few days and see. If not I'll just wait till swmbo is at work and bring the engine inside.

I've had a busy day, oil change on swmbo car and I looked at the Devcon filler. It looks to have gone off ok so I filed it down ready for rebuilding, I am going to use some hylomar on the seals so I only hope this time it works ok. Had some news on the stainless tubes to, pick them up Tuesday so all going well on that side of things.
I roughed up the case before applying the Devcon putty.
filed flat and now more area for the seal to sit on.

One thing, when I was filing the filler down it was still a bit soft so not fully gone hard. It says if its to cold to heat up the area so during the week I will get my heat gun on it to warm it up.

I've been busy today. Fitted some rear gearbox mounts and removed the starter motor for a check over as its easy to do with the engine out. Found the motor is getting a bit worn so I've ordered a new hi-torque one. Will hone out the barrels after a bite of lunch and a cuppa tea.
Over the weekend if all goes well should have the engine ready to go back in.
