Changed gearbox oil, water getting in via rubber gaiter on gearstick, fitted condom underneath, took 3 goes, hope that stops it.

Got it out of storage fully expecting to have to charge the battery after 2.5 months of alarm and immobiliser.

11.8v, started first time. Result!

Thought “nuts to it, a quick spin, why not?” and was halfway through getting my clobber on when the rain started. Not a result.

New battery time. The price of a replacement Exide 053 (54Ah/530A) seemed steep but a bit of searching found a Varta 052 - a lot cheaper, easier to fit being 30mm shorter yet similarly rated at 52Ah/520A and a 5 year guarantee too. :)
