Removing front wheel

Post by AngeloftheAbyss »

I know it's probably very easy but how do you remove the front wheel on a boom :hide: , the only other time I did this was with my pushiron and I can hardly turn it upside down  if you'll excuse the expression what do I do after I've loosened my nuts  :hoofle: :snigger:

Yeah got that, just wanted to know about the axle, forks and brakes, do they all have to come off, and will it just come away or does it need wrestling

Has yours got the leading link front end on it ?

If so do as Ghoulie said, jack the front end up then mark the wheel spacers so that you know which way to put them back on then take the nut off the axle and tap the axle through the wheel making sure you catch the spacers (3 hands are useful at this stage) if you put a bit of wood under the tyre you can lift and drop the wheel a bit to make it easier to take the axle out, then the wheel and disc should just slide out.
When the axle is out you may have to jack it up higher to get the wheel out from under the mudguard.

Getting the fecker back on is the hardest part. Mine has a spacer washer hidden inside the hub on the disc side, I glued mine to the stainless spacer.
