A light temp sensor would just be a off/on switch, but a gauge one would be variable.gorbee01279 wrote:Question....... the honda only had a temperature warning light originally so i am fitting a temperature gauge which came with a sensor, question is would the original sensor fitted to the bike work on a gauge????? it looks to me to be exactly the same type of sensor

I used it for years without any problems, however you have to remember that it's a permanent watertight solution and it's not just stretchy electricians tape, I've found the best way to remove it is to slice it along the wire with a Stanley knife.Herby01 wrote:Tried that stuff and after a short while it picked up crud and looked aweful have you ever tried to remove it once it's stuck fast and you realise you've made a mistake? I recently took down some hame radio aerials which I had sealed the coaxial joints up with self amalgamating tape some 30 old years ago, I stripped the joints apart and they were still bone dry.
If you want pretty try some heat shrink sleeving on top of the self amalgamating tape.

Removed the inlet manifold and leaking oil cooler mount. Then feet up in front of fire with a mug of tea.

I also found that there is a crankcase bolt missing on the top of the engine behind the oil cooler. So possible oil leaking from that area.
