i would put a tap on the second fuel tank if you put it on a tee piece your higher tank might over flow your lower tank

I was thinking of using the original as the reserve tank Jinge. I wouldn't turn the tap on till other is almost empty. But I am putting a tap inline on the new line anyway.

All running OK from 2nd tank. Next question is where to put a breather hole? The filler cap I have is just a weld on neck and screw cap. Would itbeok to drill a small hole in the neck, just below the cap or drill a small hole in the cap?

A very small hole in the cap should be ok, no bigger than 1 mm. Has the cap got a cork or rubber gasket inside, if so you'll need a hole in that but not in line with the cap hole.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

I have, what looks like, the same neck/cap.
I drilled a 1mm hole in the cap.
