Goldwing 1500

Post by irideforlife » Sun Apr 07, 2019 4:40 pm

Hi all. I am confused about the weight issue. Do I need to be under a certain weight for road tax. Is the rider included?
My conversion is a swing arm type so only 4 bolts. Does this need to be registered etc

hi mate weight is to determine the tax class, with a bolt on like mine you just need to go to a weigh bridge get your weight ticket and take it for an mot,ife you look on the forum you will find all the info you need. Take a look at my build thread, newby build of yamaha xvs 650 all the answears can be found there.

There is one issue with getting a trike under the 450kg if you get it under 450kg & mot it & apply for the cheaper tax if you are pulled by VOSA & weighed & it's found to be overweight they will charge you the extra back tax from the date it was registered, worth a thought. As regards to sitting on the trike.... you don't, it's unladen weight.

strip the back box and pannier off make sure the tank is more or less empty
remember weigh bridges go up to the nearest 20kg so for argument sake say it is 441kg it will weigh off at 460kg also if it weighs 459kg it will weigh 460kg and that's from viola waste management its the problem I had your talking about £60 difference in tax for the year
