after some info, looking at changing the gear ration of my swing axle gearbox, at the moment I have an AB code gearbox which has a ratio of 4.375, I am after a AS code gearbox with a final ratio of 3.875 but these are like rocking horse sh*t so I thought of changing the dif ring and pinion drive shaft to get the desired 3.875 ratio but until I pull my gearbox apart I don't know if 4th gear is keyed or splined.
The difference is between £300 and £500 just for the gears alone, then there is the gasket set, shims and the right tools to be able to strip the box or get someone to do it for me who has the tools to use and pay the labor charge as the pinion nut socket required to remove a locking ring is £237.
Has anyone had experience of either Rancho or Benco gearboxes as I have seen on Fleabay a company selling Rancho racing gearboxes refurbished for about £1300.
So its a case of buy a replacement gearbox if any good or get mine strip down and replace the gears
