Rebound on Koni shocks

Post by 1130cc »

I have just acquired 4 adjustable Koni shocks.
They are the "76, 80, 82, 86, 87, 88, 90, 8040, 8240 Series", so have to be adjusted with the springs off.

I'm trying to get my head around the physics.
Slow rebound will mean the spring will be more "springy". Or am I getting it arse about tit?

Is it better to set the rebound to hard (slow) or soft (fast), or just set it half way?

For those that want to know the adjustment procedure, it is here

Yes - arse about face LOL!
Rebound adjustment - more makes extension slower so if the rear end squats under power it will rise slower and if the shock hits several bumps in quick succession it will stay compressed and feel harder. For road use a faster rebound is better to allow the spring to return to static position for next bump.
Drag racers like a lot of rebound damping so squat is held and released slowly for maximum traction for rear wheels on a RWD vehicle obviously - bumps are rarely a problem!

Was thinking it would be you that replied. Thanks.

Seeing as there is little weight on the back, 40l fuel and sometimes two light weight passengers, I think I will set them to fast rebound.
There are two shocks to each side, so should be about right.
