Rear axle for a Kawasaki KZ1100

Good afternoon one and all, i am embarking on a trike project for my good lady, the bike is a Kawasaki KZ1100 and l have been told a Fiat Panda 4x4 rear axle will work a treat, is this correct ? any help gratefully received as this is only my second trike build.
