Re: Feeling a bit guilty
I'm so pleased with the tank I did the rear mudguards yesterday and they are like mirrors did a quick light sand with 600 wet to get rid of any high points then super fine scotch brite.
While the mudguards were curing I decided the light brackets didn't look right being silver so they got a coat if black, then flake and laquer to match.
Just the front mudguard to do but it's annoying as I've got to remove the front wheel to get it

Re: Feeling a bit guilty
This beastie had to go on hold for 5 minutes due to problems with the Boom.
It's been on my mind about the noise volume from the shorties, I started her up for the first time in near enough 2 months only to be reminded just how freaking loud they are so while the motor idled I got on the floor and messed around with a couple of fingers over the end of the pipes, I found if I pit two fingers over a certain point on the outlet they shut up! And it dawned on me the noise was the shock wave travelling through the silencer and straight out without resistance!
Remembering the Boom truck stacks, which are straight through pipes too but nowhere near as loud as shorties, have a "pepper pot" like plate at the end that you can't see unless you look from the collector end. I had an idea why don't I do something similar to the shorties? I find a bit of 2mm plate, from the back of an old dining chair, cut 2 squares, drilled a few holes in them and they fitted just right over the tube in the baffles so I tack welded them on with my eyes closed as no one can see them and my idea was hopefully they will arrest the dreaded shock wave before it comes out of the silencer. In all it took about 1/2 hour to do both but by jove it works!
Their still loud and have the same tone but their not so raucous! They don't make your ears ring like before last time are about 4-5000 rpm they must have been somewhere near 120+db which isn't kind to anyone, no one wants the same noise volume as a 747 taking off in their neighbourhood

Well did it work? Has it gone from a 747 taking off to a Tiger Moth starting.
